Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to Mesa, AZ

Move from Illinois to Arizona.

This company is a rip off. I was told one amount over the phone and then on the day of the move, the price jumped by almost $4,000, the movers were very rough with my furniture and when it was delivered, my things were scratched, broken and lot's of items were missing as if someone went thru everything and took what they wanted. Tried to contact them and they never answered the phone for 10 months. They need to be shut down because they are thieves and lier's. Keep your money, go to anybody other than this lying, unorganized, company full of theives. You will be sorry. I also have pictures of everything before they took it and after they delivered it. Please don't use this company.

Long-distance move from Smyrna, DE to Tallahassee, FL

Green Movers of America is a Scammer.

Green Movers of America is a fake and fraudulent group known for extorting money from people in the U.S. Run away from any associate of this company like Illinois Movers. They are not legit companies. Do not allow your family and friends to fall victim to their extortion tricks. Please share this message with your friends in the U.S and Canada.

On the day of pick up and on site which is 7.26.2019 in Smyrna Delaware, Green movers of America changed the contract from $2800 for a 700 cubics to $6800 for a 1000 cubic. They also changed the payment option from half of balance to 75% even though I did not add any extra boxes. I maintain the same items in the original contract of $2800. I also noticed that a sum of $1500 was included as part of the $6800 for a shuttle not in the original contract. I keep asking them why adding $1500 for the shuttle and also why the cubic suddenly changed from 700 to 1000 without increasing the boxes? A guy named David was the representative of the Green movers on the site and could not explain precisely. I was able to find somebody to explain this to me later. The excuse they gave was not correct for adding $1500 in the new estimate.

Because it is important I get back to the office on Monday and time was not on my side, I had to agree with $6800 requested but with the condition that the items should be delivered to Tallahassee on Monday. They requested I pay them via check and agree to deliver the items on Monday (7.29.2019). This was documented. Thereafter, I gave a check of $4200.
Suddenly, on Sunday night while driving from Delaware to Tallahassee I saw an email from the Green Movers of America that because it will 3 days to clear the check, I should transfer by wire $4200 to their account and my items will be held in their warehouse. I called the office on Monday that we agree the items will be delivered on Monday even though they are aware it will take 3 days to clear the check. I also told them that I cannot send the money via wire transfer and at the same time hold my check. I called my bank immediately to canceled the check which I later called the Green movers of America to informed them of this development. I later found out from my bank that, while they were requesting a wire transfer from me, the Green movers of America was also making effort to withdraw the money on the same Monday from account.
The question that comes to my mind was that if the check will still be tender to my bank on Monday, why asking me to wire the same amount to their account? This means they wanted me to wire the money and the same time withdrawal the same amount from the account using the check they claimed it will take 3 days to clear. Because of this, I did not have trust in this mover, as I have a strong suspicion that all they care about is the money and how extort me.

Because I have canceled the check and I did not wire the money, they sent me another email that I should pick my items in New Jersey on 8.2.2019. I called the mover office to inform them that all my item should be returned to Delaware since they are not being truthful and straight forward. They wanted to swindle me. I also told them that I am not responsible for the cost of holding the items in any warehouse. I also gave them an option of bringing my item to Tallahassee and pay them directly in cash, as I am not ready to wire any money and only to be asked for additional money later. That is going to be extortion.
Interestingly, today (8.7.2019), I got another email message from the mover that I am owing the company about $6000 for holding my items in their warehouse and as a result, they will be selling my item very soon.

Extreme Over charges and bad customer service.

I got an estimate of $1500 for a 500 cubic feet move from New Jersey to Ohio. However, the company started shooting up charges right from the time they arrived.

They started with a charge of $1000 saying that the pick up location is too small for the pickup truck. I requested to cancel the job and refund the money, but they agreed to waive off the charge and proceed with the job.

Then after loading stuff into the pickup truck, they said the cubic feet is 600 (100 more than estimated) while I argued that I gave them less stuff than in the quote (for example, the quote has 34 boxes while I gave them only 15 boxes). They charged $727 more for the additional 100 cubic feet.

The original estimate was given based on the assumption that they would pack everything in the house, but myself and my wife packed everything and told them that we do not need that service. However, the charges showed up in the invoice and when I questioned, they removed the $500 but added $371 as labor charges for packing. All they used was just one small empty box (probably a dollar and fifty cents) but charged me $371.

They also charged $227 for fuel surcharge, which they never disclosed.

I specifically asked the customer service representative if there is any additional charge as my drop off location is second stair, but the representative told absolutely no charge. How ever, when the driver came, he said only 7 steps is free but would charge extra for every 7 steps.

Now, they are charging another $1196 for dropping off the goods, for additional shuttle service.

They did a very bad job in loading my stuff to the truck. I am afraid what all furniture is broken when it arrives.

Long-distance move from Portsmouth, NH to Bradenton, FL

Move from NH to Florida.

Buyer beware!!
Carefully read your contract about Shuttle service. I read that but knew a truck would have easily come to my address. The business decided, without prior contact to me, used a shuttle from Boston to NH. Showed up at my door requesting another 650.00 for the service. Cash payment before loading the truck. I don’t know about you but I didn’t have that kind of cash laying around. Customer service brought it down to 450$. But still what an unpleasant surprise. Shop elsewhere!

Scam.

Dont use them stay far away from this company. It is not full service at all they didn't even bring the items into the apartment. They completely take advantage of people in a vulnerable position. Do not allow these people an opportunity to get you in this way. Please stay away and be sure to ask as many questions and really read what is included and what they will be doing. Full service is not full service with them. The quote was one thing and the end total with leaving half of the items behind, them not bringing the items in, the police involved, still ended up with triple the original quote. Stay far away!

Long-distance move from Montgomery Village, MD to Las Vegas, NV

Low Ratings for A Reason!! RUN!!

Based on all the reviews I see here and everywhere else. Maybe a class action suit is necessary.

I could write an entire essay on all the issues I had but it would be mirroring every review you can find about them online. I did not see all these reviews prior to selecting them as my moving company and would not have chosen them had I read all these complaints. I wanted the cheapest rate with standard moving service and ended paying more than what PODS quoted me. Since this something I see everyone has dealt with, I will probably be reaching out in a more official way soon.

Thank You Everyone!!

Scam.

Do not use this company they are a complete scam. They quote one price 2900.00 and once they wrap your stuff and get it on truck the price tripled, I wish I had read more reviews before I hired them. After I had them leave they called back and all of a sudden they could give me original price. Glad I wasn’t fooled because I read they will keep your stuff hostage.

Do Not Use!

DO NOT USE GREEN MOVERS! I can go on and on about all the ways this company did me wrong but I will make this brief. They showed up late (for a move that required a 2 hour travel to my new destination), told me I had to pay an extra $4,000 on top of my $3,000 estimate, took 6 hours to load a 2 bedroom townhome (contents already packed), told me he worked out a deal so I only had to pay $2,000 of which a portion he was keeping as a tip. Arrived at destination at 9:30 pm and my family and I had to HELP UNLOAD the truck while the foreman sat in the truck. They did not finish until 1:30am and did not unwrap anything or attempt to put together basic items like my bed frame or dining table. We still had to go back the next day, rent a U-Haul and pack up everything they left behind. They waited until they had enough of my belongings on the truck to hit me with this ridiculous overcharge, when I was completely vulnerable and took advantage. This company deserves NEGATIVE STARS and to be out of business. Do yourself a favor, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they will rip you off and take full advantage of your situation.

Local move within Delaware

Move from New Jersey to Delaware.

Green Movers of America is a scam operation on senior citizens and others and should not be used for any moving services. I have worked with several moving companies over the past year with good experience. However, this company was the worst and most disreputable I ever worked with, very dishonest, rude and horrible customer service. My wife and I are both over 70 yrs. old and felt this was pre-planned scam operation on senior citizens. I had a relatively small number of items to be moved form Bayonne NJ to Delaware. When I discussed the move with the Sales rep, I was very clear on the number of items to be moved and that there were three flights of stairs at the pick-up location and one flight of stairs down at the delivery location. I was given a price of $ 850.00 for the move and was promised our items would be picked up and delivered on the same day for that price. When the movers showed up at the Pick-up location and entered into the apartment, they started identifying several items that would cause the price to increase- clearly this was part of their business model, lowball price upfront and then when onsite look for justification for price increases. Initially, they wanted to increase the total price by $1600. They claimed there was $600 in extra charges due to the three flights of stairs and $1000 extra “shuttle” charge since they weren’t able to use an 18-wheeler truck at that location. This “shuttle” service charge is a big scam and was never explained to me when discussing the move with the Sales rep. After several heated discussions when they were refusing to load their truck, I agreed, under duress, to pay an extra $300. However, I had to carry the majority of my items down the stairs to their truck – they refused to do so since I wouldn’t pay more. After the items were loaded into their truck and I gave them “Cahiers Check” for 20%, we were told by the truck driver they would be delivered later that same day. Then after waiting several hours for delivery in Delaware and several calls back to the home office, we were told our items would not be delivered the same day and would be delivered in the next few days. Their excuse was that they had to wait for the “Cahiers Check’ to clear which makes no sense since a Cashier’s Check is the same as cash. After many heated discussions with the company reps responsible for delivery, our items were finally delivered 29 days after the pick-up. During that time the moving company tried to charge me for storage fees and also added $600 “shuttle “charge which I refused to pay. There was absolutely no need for the so called “shuttle service” with a smaller truck. Our delivery address had a very wide road with easy access for an 18-wheeler moving truck – just another attempt to get more money. In the end, I had to rent my own truck and meet the moving truck in Walmart parking lot for transfer of our items as they refused to deliver to my home as originally promised unless I paid an extra $600. I was told by the home office that the movers would move our items from their truck to our moving truck in the Walmart parking lot, but they refused to do that. So, my wife and I (both over 70 yrs. old) had to move the items onto our rented truck. Every time I spoke to the home office to try and resolve the issues, they very disrespectable and in most cases, rude. They don’t seem to understand what good customer service is. This has been the worst experience ever with any contractor. When I tried to contact the original Sales rep. to discuss the price discrepancies, he never responded to me. I would never work with Green Movers of America again. They are more interested in scamming customers than providing good customer service customer service and honest pricing.
